Pre-Registration required for 2010 General Assembly
The Annual General Assembly and Elections of PACT will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at the FUSE Learning Center for Teachers, Pearl of the Orient Tower, Roxas Blvd., Manila. Guest Speaker for the event is Dr. Lourdes J. Cruz, National Scientist and 2010 L'Oreal-UNESCO Laureate for Women in Science. Her lecture on Chemistry Education and Research will usher the 2011 Celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of PACT, and the International Year of Chemistry .
Registration starts at 8:00 am and the program proper at 8:30 am.
To pre-register, email us your Name, School and Membership status at pactsec@gmail.com on or before June 21, 2010 and the Secretariat will confirm your attendance. No guaranteed seats for walk-ins.

PACT hosts IUPAC Young Ambassadors for Chemistry in MANILA
The PACT, in partnership with the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and Science Across the World Network, and Science Education Institute (SEI-DOST), staged the first Philippine edition of the Young Ambassadors for Chemistry at Asia Pacific College, FUSE-LCT and SM City Manila on April 12-14 2010.
The workshops, themed Promoting Public Understanding of Chemistry, aimed to develop public understanding of chemistry through chemistry celebration events for young people in public locations. Materials and photos of the event can be seen at www.xs4all.nl/~amschoen/YACPhilippines/

Chemistry UbD Workshop Held
A seminar-workshop on chemistry-specific Understanding by Design (UbD) was held last February 20, 2010 at the FUSE LCT facility. Plenary Lectures were delivered by no less than UP NISMED's Drs. Merle Tan and Marlene Ferido. The brief workshop that followed was facilitated by Dr. Marion Mallorca (C.M.Recto High School), a highly experienced educator in the application of UbD. Participants, coming from a number of provinces as far as Compostela Valley, were delighted as they learned quite a lot on a topic that has previously been discussed vaguely. Recognizing the urgency of being able to come up with full-blown learning plans, and due to the clamor of the participants, it is certain that PACT will hold a another but more intensive workshop soon. So, stay in the know!

PACT partners with ABS-CBN Foundation
Our association recently partnered with the E-Media Group of ABS-CBN Foundation in donating an entire ETV Educational Package to Nasugbu West Central School in Batangas. (read more...)
PACT helps Rizal
The association, in collaboration with the Rizal Education Development Advisory Council (PREDAC) and the Department of Education-Division of Rizal recently trained 107 public school chemistry teachers of the province, representing 56 schools from the two congressional districts. (read more…)

Step 2: Make bank payment (Security Bank Savings Account #0341-016819-001) payable to Philippine Association of Chemistry Teachers, Inc. And please don't forget to bring one billing statement on our meeting and your ID picture for our BPI requirements.
